A few possibilities: Low Albumin may be due to poor production or excess excretion. In our son's case, fmf can result in amyloid deposition in the kidneys resulting in excess protein loss including Albumin in some cases. Crohn's can result in malabsorption as well as loss of protein in the gut. A pre-albumin and tests of factor production of the liver can help determine if it is a production problem vs loss.
