How long must i wait to switch back from clonidine ext. release to clonidine immed. release? ext. release is giving me headaches! dose on both 0.1 2xd

Next day likely OK: It should be safe to simply switch to the ir the next day; the half-life on the extended release should make it last 24 hours, so i'm not sure why you're on twice-daily dosing. I'd consider skipping the nighttime er dose and start ir in the am. Side effects to watch for would be symptoms of high pressure--headache, blurred vision, chest pain.

Clonidine dose: Clonidine extended release should be out of your system by 48 hours. Please note that the immediate release Clonidine gives a higher blood level of the drug than the extended release--you will want to start with only 1 a day.
