Get it checked: It's difficult to say what your problem could be without visualization of the rash. It's best to follow up with a provider so they can evaluate your condition and determine it's seriousness or lack there of.

It's painful or itching: It can be a problem. If there's no itching, burning, stinging, and just discoloration, you can monitor and watch it and see if it goes away. If it doesn't, and they there are you have the associated symptoms including erythema or redness, then it's best to have your pcp evaluate it, and look at it to offer the best recommendations.
