Depends: If the eardrum just ruptured because of infection or pressure changes (on an airplane) or trauma (q-tip), often it will heal in days to weeks. On the other hand, ones that are from chronic ear infection or large ones may never heal without surgery. You should see an ENT for a check up.

Variable: A ruptured eardrum usually heals with a few weeks without treatment. Sometimes, however, a ruptured eardrum requires a procedure or surgical repair to heal.
