Generally, NO: Medication or freezing is used, they just grab a bite of your cervix from a suspicious area with a sharp biopsy tool. Bleeding, cramping , and spotting orange or other strange colors afterwards is normal because they use vinegar and iodine to see the spots better. Two aleve (naproxen) twice daily for a couple more days should help the cramping. Good luck! always use a condom with any new partners!
