Depends : Different bacteria and viruses are transmitted in different ways. Some travel in the air after an infected person sneezes or coughs. Others may be transmitted by contact with body fluids like stool, mucous, blood, semen. Still others requires animal vectors like mosquitoes, ticks or biting flies.

Need more info: In general viruses are either spread via droplets or direct contact; once the droplets have dried, they are no longer contagious. Bacteria have varying susceptibilities and several species can be anaerobic and can exist for long periods of time on clothing. So more information is required.
