Gastric Ulcer: There are various medications that can be used to treat gastric ulcer including antacid, h2-blocker (e.g. Zantac), proton pump inhibitor (e.g. Priolosec) as well as others. Here are synopsis of treatment available for gastric ulcer: http://www.Laendo.Net/english/stomach-ulcer.

Not prefferred: Yes, you can use lenamet otc but this is not a preferred one these days as newer medications are there with better side effects profile. You can try Prilosec otc and see your pcp.

Use Antacids: There are many. You can use zantac(cheaper), Pepcid (famotidine) or prilosec(more effective but may also cost more). Use it daily.

Tagamet (cimetidine) otc?: Prior to proton pump inhibitors, medicines like tagamet (cimetidine) otc were used to heal ulcers. By reducing stomach acidity, the stomach has time to heal the ulcers.
