Not prefferred: Yes, you can use lenamet otc but this is not a preferred one these days as newer medications are there with better side effects profile. You can try Prilosec otc and see your pcp.

Use Antacids: There are many. You can use zantac(cheaper), Pepcid (famotidine) or prilosec(more effective but may also cost more). Use it daily.

Tagamet (cimetidine) otc?: Prior to proton pump inhibitors, medicines like tagamet (cimetidine) otc were used to heal ulcers. By reducing stomach acidity, the stomach has time to heal the ulcers.
