You can do : Either. I would also recommend a little antibiotic and a bandaid as usually when it is cut down low it potentially can cause an infection. Sometimes, instead of cutting the nail down more, instead i will file the rest of the nail.

Nail problem: You can cut it but not to deep. If any signs of redness or drainage consult a podiatrist.
