Frustrating: Numbness and tingling can be a frustrating endeavor due to many different causes. The first place i would start is by making sure you wear comfortable shoes that are not pushing against pressure points during prolonged standing or activities. Otherwise this could be a sign of many different things and should be checked out by your doctor.

Hmmmm: That is a tough one, may be nerve irritation any time "tingling" is involved, or could be bone/heel spur that comes and goes as far as the pain/tingling foes? A foot dr. (podiatrist) would be able to best provide you with the most plausible diagnosis and best subsequent treatment.
