I had an ear infection in my right ear. could it spread from ear to ear?

Not directly: The human body is not set up where a middle ear infection on one side can spread like skin infection to the other ear. However, the conditions that allow it to happen in one side may also effect the throat and the other side allowing both sides to become infected at or near the same time.
