Talk to your doctor: If abdominal pain is due to constipation magnesium citrate will work. If pain is due to acid reflux citrate may worsen stomach pain especailly if taken in empty stomach. If pain is due to gall bladder disease, pancreas inflammation, bowel obstruction or gastroenteritis magnesium citrate may not work.
