See below: It is a seizure that starts off in one area of the brain and spreads to the whole hemisphere causing loss of awareness. It usually has a preceding aura such as deja vu, depersonalization feelings, etc. There maybe automatisms associated with it (for example lip smacking, moving fingers in a pattern, or chewing). It can lead to involvement globally which is called secondary generalization.
