Seeing is believing: A doctor who has seen you has more information than we can get from you online. Scars cannot be completely removed. They are how we heal; however, sometimes additional treatment can help reduce a scar. Consult several board certified plastic surgeons in your area, and be realistic about what can be done.

Peel vs Laser: Your doctor had the advantage of being able to see the kind and event of scarring your are looking to improve and what your skin type is. Patients with darker skin tones are not idea candidates for laser treatments. Extensive scarring typically will not be significantly improved with just chemical peels.
