Dr. Paul Kaplowitz answered

Specializes in Pediatric Endocrinology

See an endocrine doc: Hyperthyroidism is a serious but very treatable condition and all endocrinology specialists have experience treating it. The first step is usually to start a medication called Methimazole to slow your thyroid gland's production of thyroid hormone which takes a few weeks. If that fails there are more permanent treatments (radioactive iodine r surgery).
