Death & other things: Some unfortunate females have bled to death from female circumcision, clitoris and perineal area has a signifiacnt blood supply so subject can "bleed out" if blood flow not controlled. Women can also have signicant urinary problems, very often require surgery to open vaginal opening sufficiently for sex. Can prevent normal vaginal births so that cesarian section required. Vagina risks severe tears.

The consequences....: Female genital mutilation can lead to death, severe chronic pain, hemorrhage, urinary retention, urinary tract infections, keloid scars, strictures, fistula, incontinence, infertility, painful intercourse, painful periods, neuroma, recurrent infections, septicemia, transmission of hepatitis, tetanus, HIV & difficulty with childbirth. This doesn't address the emotional damage & horror inflicted.
