Wait: Most sore throats and phlegm production are due to viral infections that do not respond to antibiotic therapy. Some are due to bacterial infections especially if the phlegm color turns green. Amoxicillin at proper dosage is the first line of treatment. If your problems persist for more than one week, best thing is to see your doctor.
