Amenorrhea: The Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud is very well-known for lightening periods by thinning the endometrial lining. Blood loss overall can decrease by up to 90% and 20% of women on the iud will stop menstruating altogether. It is expected for you to be late for periods or miss them. You may have unpredictables spotting later on, but that would also be normal.
