Is it possible to stick a tube down your throat and have it bypas the pharynx and go into the esophagus?

It is possible for a doc to pass a tube down your throat, past the larynx (not through the larynx-that would lead to the trachea (windpipe))- that is part of bronchoscopy (a pulmonary test to look at the breathing tubes., and into the esophagus, even into the stomach and small intestine. That is basically an upper endoscopy.
