During a swallow study a "mass" was found in my 1yr olds throat. doc appointment monday. what are some possible causes?

Foreign body: I think foreign body is certainly a possibility in a one-year-old. In other words, they may have swallowed something that shouldn't be there. Other than that, it would be best to let a physician get a good history of what the problem has been which prompted the swallowing study in the first place and you will be able to go from there.

Congenital mass: A growth which is usually benign or an abscess may be possible. You may upload the report for a second opinion review on Healthtap virtual consult by scheduling. Other possible causes include a swallowed object. The density,size and shape are important considerations. Watch for fever,signs of choking and please follow up.
