Working too hard: You are likely exceeding your maximum exercise heart rate. Exercise heart rate should be 80% of you age maximum. If you are 28 y/o male, that number should be 150-155 beats per minute. At 170+ bpm, you are working your heart too hard and it is telling you (your symptoms described above) to turn it down a notch. Those are symptoms of cardiac stress. Build up your exercise program slowly.
