Work up?: An MRI can determine if a lesion in bone is an active process. Many times, sclerotic lesions in bones, or bone islands, are innocuous, and cause no problems. If there is pain associated with the lesion, then it may signal a more serious problem. Seek care or additional workup.

Bone island ...?: There are treatments for benign lesions of bone that are symptomatic. First, see a specialist and be certain of the diagnosis (orthopedic oncologist best); occ.A biopsy may be performed to confirm DX although many'lesions' will show defining characteristics on x-rays/ mri. Some benign 'lesions' will weaken the bone and cause well- disguised fractures that need treatment..May need currett.Bone graft.
