Same day usually : Food poisoning always indicates an acute situation, which either involves vomiting, or diarrhea or someway of the body eliminating the toxins quickly. So it's usually the same day or with in maximum 24 hours. If it's any longer than that, then it probably is not food poisoning.

Depends: It all depends on how much diarrhea you had related to food poisoning and how much you are during and afterwards; i.e. How much food you have left in you bowels. It could be hours to days. Unlikely to take weeks.

Length of time key: If it is the typical "food poisoning" a day or two is all that is needed to clear it out of your system, but at times, a bacterial infection can become a serious or deadly condition. If someone gets better very quickly, it's probably ok, but don't hesitate to seek care if you are feeling sicker. Time can be of the essence, so i would be trigger happy to get help.
