I had a bowel twist and part of my sigmoid removed in dec. surgeon told me to take miralax (polyethylene glycol) indefinitely, but gp says no and to take coconut oil. help?

Two opinions: You are a good patient and your docs have given differing advice on laxatives. As long as you are doing well, you have some time to clarify with each doctor. Both docs are giving advice on how to avoid constipation. Both are recommending non-prescription laxative. The goal is one to two soft bowel movements daily. Be well.

Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is safe: You can take MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) empty stomach. It is a very safe medicine and can be taken for long time for constipation.
