A member asked:

Just had long string bits when opening my bowels. have been having mucus lately & left lower tummy pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mucus ; cramps...: Mucus occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. You're describing cramping with stools so mucus may also be produced due to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, ; even from secretory villous rectal tumors. No bleeding, weight loss, fever, tenderness...Right? Call your doc to get checked esp. If these issues r present.
