How long does it take for amitriptyline to work for pins and needles and tingling sensation?

Depends on dose: Not sure why you have amitrityline for tingling, but assume some nerve issue associated with ankle injury. Effective dosing occurs with a total of 150 mg daily, and may do well within 4-6 weeks. However, if this does not do the job, might try Gabapentin instead.
