A member asked:

Does getting a proctocolectomy surgery cause erectile disability?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessaroty: While this type of surgery can lead to erectile dysfunction, usually the surgery is performed to preserve the nerves and preserve erectile function. If the surgery is for colon-rectal cancer, then there may be radiation treatments before or after the surgery that could also affect erectile function.
