Yes but: If your symptoms are severe then i wouldn't push it, but if you are improving or your symptoms are mild, then it would be ok to do chin ups and push ups, as long as you are not pushing yourself too hard or straining. Keep in mind that there is always a chance the herniated disc could get worse, but at some point you have to begin resuming normal activities.
