Specializes in Orthopedic Surgery

Orthopaedic eval.: Chronic (greater than 6-8 weeks from injury) hamstring tears that are near complete or complete avulsions off the insertion on the ischium (prominence of pelvis under hip -- "sitting bone" ) and retracted more than a couple centimeters (seen best on mri) may benefit from surgical repair. Seek evaluation from an orthopaedic surgeon that treats hamstring injuries.
