It depends...: If you do suffer from allergies it can cause mucus buildup. Unhealthy diets can cause acid reflux that also increase mucus buildup in throat. Seeing a doctor could help differentiate between both to decide which medication would help you best. Lifestyle changes are also beneficial depending on cause.
