Yes: Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs from thickening of the carpal ligament at the level of the wrist. This leads to compression on the median nerve that then leads to the symptoms of pain and numbness particularly in the thumb, index, and 3rd fingers. Repetitive movements at the wrist can cause this. Also, metabolic problems like hypothyroidism or excessive growth hormone can lead to carpal tunnel syndr.
