A member asked:

Can you explain if it's possible to have allergies to gum?

Dr. John Chiu answered

Yes: It is impossible to become allergic to almost anything although some agents are more allergenic than others. The gum itself probably has very low allergic potential but the ingredients added for flavor and appearance may produce an allergic response. The answer is yes, it is possible but the likelihood of allergy is very low.
