CVA: Stroke is a complication of hypertension. The risk is lowered by controlling the blood pressure to normal. Uncontrolled hypertension carries a significantly increased risk for stroke.

It depends: It depends your age and your medical history and how high is your blood pressure. If you have high blood pressure on the top of arteriosclerosis that is hardening of the arteries you are more prone to a stroke.

Very few symptoms: Until it is too late! the BP must be measured to be assessed. The risks of untreated hbp: heart attack, stroke, impotence, etc. Emergency care should be initiated if sys >185m, or heart attack, stroke. Rec: lose weight, exercise, lower salt intake, see doc for meds if needed.
