A member asked:

I was wondering is atherosclerosis thrombosis but in the early stages before getting blocked?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Atherosclerosis: As far as we know atherosclerosis and thrombosis are separate problems. Thrombosis often complicates athersosclerotic lesions. When a minor plaque ruptures and thrombosis results the vessel may become occluded or the atheroma may progress more rapidly than if the thrombus hadn't occurred.
