How much water & mlk: Fiber needs water to do it´s job. Children over one year of age need a lot less milk than before. Sometimes if kids are drinking to much milk they become constipated. Over 12 months she needs between 18 and 24 ounces of milk products per day. This includes cheese and yogurt. Increase water and decrease juices. Bananas and apples plug you up as well as carrots and rice. Try fruits that start with p.

Get on this now!: You need to address this problem now. Continued constipation will lead to stool withholding behavior that creates a recurrent pain withholding pattern that becomes progressively worse over time. This can be treated quickly if handled appropriately with simple treatment by experienced practitioners. Diet alone is not going to resolve the constipation at this point.

More water: Eating a naturally high fiber diet is healthy, but not as good for stools if you don't drink enough water. Make sure that she is drinking enough water to compensate for her fiber. At 1 year old 11 g of fiber is pretty good for her. If adjusting her water intake doesn't help you should probably see her doctor for a constipation evaluation.

Constipation: Toddlers often do not eat enough fiber or they may eat too much starch containing foods. They often take in too much cow's milk. Try limiting cow's milk to 16 oz /day, and 4-8 oz yogurt. Encourage additional water rather than juice. High fiber diets require lots of water to allow fiber to soften stools. Consider natural laxitive like prune juice 2 oz with 2 oz water, once a day.
