Low d dimer: And lack of risk factors (on wells score) for DVT effectively rules DVT out.

Dimer: D dimer rises with clotting. Low number implies no acute clotting process. Sometimes study coupled with ultrasound imaging of any symptomatic area-- like calf with swelling etc.
