Could be deficient: It could be a coincidence, but specifically having cravings to chew/eat ice can be seen with nutritional deficiencies. Wanting to ingest an inorganic compound such as ice (or drywall, paint chips, etc) is called pica and can be seen in people with iron deficiency, for example. A few blood tests can confirm if this is true in your case.
