Chest wall: There are variations and abnormalities in the way the chest wall forms leading to pectins escavatum or pectus carinatum. Either the breastbone caving in or protruding out, respectively. This can create the look of the chest caving in on one side and jutting out on the other. If it is mild it does not cause any problem however if it is deeply sunken then it can cause restriction of either the heart or the lungs. Please see your primary care physician if you're concerned.
