Go back to eye MD: Eye flashes in peripheral vision should always be checked out first. Retinal
detachment can happen with no warning even if its the day after your last eye check up. That is an emergency.
However, high stress/ anxiety is a good setting for ocular migraines, which are usually harmless but frightening. They may or may not be associated with a headache.

Migraine aura or eye: I recommend having an ophthalmologist exam you. Flashes of light in peripheral visual field lasting over numerous minutes in a crescendo-decrescendo fashion with or without headache, nausea, or even vomiting likely represents an aura of migraine. Your vision should return entirely to normal after the event. If retinal tear/detachment: increase floaters, random flashes with eye movement, shadows.
