Vein closure.: There are many ways to close a saphenous vein including laser, RF, glue, Varithena and mechanochemical(Clarivein) ablation. All procedures have pros and cons. My choice is laser and this is very well tolerated by almost everyone. Pain sensitivity varies person to person. A laser closure involves several small needle insertions, administration of tumescent anesthesia then laser closure.

20-30 min. Needles. : Procedure lasts about 20-30 min for most. The discomfort you will feel is related primarily to small needles injecting local anesthesia to numb things. Unless you tolerate needles very poorly you will not have any significant pain. The leg may be mildly sore, and maybe even a bit bruised for a brief time (usually several days) afterward, but you should be able to do most activity! Hope this helps.
