Dr. John Chiu answered

Ok: The histamine receptors in the brain keep one awake when stimulated by histamine. Antihistamine, when and if it gets to the brain, counteracts this awakening effect. Antihistamine does not however make one over-stimulated like nasal decongestant. It will only induce vasoconstriction when given in very high dose (as in the case of a spray). No bronchodilater effect from ah.
