Nasal allergies: While they exist, true nasal allergies are probably over-diagnosed in this age group. The only fda approved prescription antihistamine for children as young as 6 months is clarinex; the dose for an 8 month old is 1/2 tsp/ day. An alternative would be otc Diphenhydramine (benadryl); 1 tsp at 6-8 hr intervals for a 22lb infant. Xyzal (levocetirizine) is officially approved only for pts 12 yrs and older
