Many: Lots of viruses can cause a high fever - influenza (flu) is one of them. Colds can cause fevers too. So can the "stomach flu" - which are often viruses. Having a fever or the number that it reaches isn't in and of itself a cause for concern. Doctors are more concerned with why a fever is happening.
