Can my cat give my child toxoplasmosis?

Yes: Especially if this is an outdoor cat. If the child plays with the litterbox and puts hand to mouth before washing them well, that child can get toxoplasmosis. However, the illness is not bad when it is acquired after birth.

Yes.: One can contract toxoplasmosis by consuming food or water contaminated with cat feces or by contaminated environmental samples (such as fecal-contaminated soil or changing the litter box of a pet cat). Children are particularly vulnerable because of poor hand hygiene.
