Pleuritic pain: Question is not clear right side of chest or somewhere else? You may have something in the chest wall or have pleuritic pain . See your dr.You may have a cracked rib or shingles. There can be pleurisy or pulmonary embolism. See your dr asap.

?pinched nerve: If the pain is in your rib cage, this could be a pinching of an intercostal nerve which runs between two ribs. A deep breath causes a sharp shooting pain with this condition but not a steady ache. It is not serious but a nuisance type of symptom. Have your physician check you for this pain. He/she may order an xray if it is felt to be indicated after the evaluation.
