Blood loss: You did just lose a unit (/pint) of blood. You need to allow the body a couple of hours to redistribute fluid to the vascular system to replace the volume (hence the nurse's instructions to drink plenty of clear liquids and avoid strenuous activities for 4-8 hrs). Should go away in a couple of hours with good hydration.
