See a GI: Blood in the stool(hematochezia) can be from various sources. Most common is hemorrhoids related or it can be from inflammation of the colon(colitis) and in pts above 50 yrs of age malignancy can be a cause. Medications particularly blood thinners can cause it too. See a GI to work up the above and in the meantime please avoid any nsaids like ibuprofen, tylenol (acetaminophen) is safe increase fiber in the diet.

Agree wi Dr. Borade: Please seek medical assessment. Possible causes of blood in stool include: fissures, fistulas, hemorrhoids, cancer, ulcers, infections, inflammation, Diverticular disease & Angiodysplasia .
