Swollen Ribs: The ribs, themselves, are probably not swollen, but the cartilage between the ribs and intercostal muscles might be swollen. This can happen from exercise, but there are inflammatory problems, like costochondritis, that might be causing your rib pain. Try a strong dose of anti-inflammatory medication, like a Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack from your doctor, or 600mg of Ibuprofen 3 times per day for a week.
