A member asked:

What can cause a child to sit most of the time, watching others, rather than participating with the kids?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many things: A child could sit on the sidelines because they are shy or introverted, they may not feel they can do as well as the others, or there may be a physical problem (musculoskeletal, cardiac, pulmonary), that might not be apparent but limits their activity. Definitely speak with your pediatrician or gp.
