A member asked:

Can we stagger the vaccination schedule for our newborn? is it necessary to give all the shots according to schedule? what're the risks in staggering?

Give on schedule...: ...Since all of the research on the safety and effectiveness of the immunizations presumes they are being given as they were originally tested. Changing to an unproven schedule places your child at risk for side effects and, worse, for not being protected against the terrible diseases we immunize against. Ask your doctor for further details. Good luck!

Risks: There has been a lot of press about alternate vaccination schedules for children. The two biggest risks are by spreading out the vaccinations it drastically increases the number of office visits required and parents tend to drop out before completion. The second risk (and I think this is major) it prolongs the period of time that your child is vulnerable to completely preventable diseases.
