Nutrition: Before someone as a GI bypass they are evaluated to see if they are a good candidate, i.e., will change eating habits afterward or the bypass will be for naught. After the bypass there is a need to make sure that the pt. Is getting proper nutrition. A nutritionist can be helpful w/all of this. Peace and good health.

Nutrition eval: Every person that wants to have weight loss surgery needs to be evaluated by a dietician (as well as a psychosocial eval by a social worker or psychologist). This is a requirement by the insurance companies, but is also important to do even if it wasn't required. The eval helps us determine if you are an appropriate candidate for surgery. Some people aren't quite ready to have surgery just yet.
